This is the Catz 5 breed file for the Giraffe.

Put the Giraf.cat file in your Resource\Catz directory.
For the girafz to look right, you need to create the subdirectory:
Resource\Catz\gi
and place all six of the .bmp files in there.

The Giraffes (three slightly different fur-patterns, and a variety of
eye and tail colours) will then show up in your Adoption Centre
the next time you go there.

There are basically two different types of real giraffes: reticulated
and blotched. Reticulated giraffes have spots with an even pattern. They
live in northeastern Africa. Blotched giraffes have irregular spots
and are more yellow than the reticulated giraffes. These giraffes live in
central and southern Africa. You will find both types of Petz giraffe in
this breedfile.

It used to be thought that giraffes were silent. This is a myth.
Though normally silent, calves will bleat and make a mewing call, cows seeking
lost calves will bellow, and courting bulls may emit a raucous cough.
Giraffes also give alarm snorts; and moaning, snoring, hissing,
and flutelike sounds have been reported.

I have given these petz giraffes some sounds which fit those descriptions,
and they are more talkative than giraffes normally would be because that's
more fun in the game.

So if you want your petz to talk "Giraffe" to you, then make sure you
have downloaded the sound files also (available from the site
whence you downloaded this file); put all the .wav files and gisn.txt
in the "gi" subdirectory.

NOTE: If you are importing Girafz from a previous version
of the game, you will be able to do so using this breedfile.
However, Petz 5 does not keep its bitmaps for all breedz
in quite the same place as in those earlier games. This
means that your pet will import but will have lost its
skin markings. The only way to fix this is to edit the
pet itself; I've made this as simple as possible, but
make sure that you make a copy of your pet somewhere
safe first!! I've made it so that you don't need to
bother about the checksum, but unless someone makes a
program to edit petfiles you will need to copy and paste
some text.

Okay, this is what you must do:

Open your pet into a hex editor, or get a friend who
knows how to use a hex editor to do so for you.
Now find the first instance of the words Texture List

Below that are these lines of text:

\ptzfiles\cat\ta\Stripk3.bmp
\ptzfiles\cat\ta\Stripk11.bmp
\ptzfiles\cat\ta\Stripk13.bmp
\ptzfiles\cat\ta\Stripk14.bmp
\ptzfiles\cat\ta\Stripk16.bmp
\ptzfiles\cat\ta\Stripk17.bmp

Now open this readme into the hex editor also.
For each line of text that you see above, paste
the equivalent line of text that you see below here:

\resource\catz\gi\Strio3.bmp
\resource\catz\gi\Strio11.bmp
\resource\catz\gi\Strio13.bmp
\resource\catz\gi\Strio14.bmp
\resource\catz\gi\Strio16.bmp
\resource\catz\gi\Strio17.bmp

So for instance, you replace:
\ptzfiles\cat\ta\Stripk3.bmp
with
\resource\catz\gi\Strio3.bmp
replace:
\ptzfiles\cat\ta\Stripk11.bmp
with
\resource\catz\gi\Strio11.bmp

etc. Save. You only need to do this once. Your pet should
now come out looking as it always did, provided that you put
the bmp files in that directory called gi.

Enjoy!
